Valhash Catalina "Lucky 13"

Here's an email that CreamPuff sent to the disorganizers yesterday:

Hey Clueless Crew!

It's time to start looking at the plans for Valhash Catalina 2008! As you probably know, the dates are September 12-14, 2008. Mark your calendars and cancel any conflicting plans now!

Asscrackistan, you told me about some possible Friday night hares at the hash on Monday, but I had too much beer in me to recall--who are the hares to contact? (I was going to hare Friday night, but I can move mine to Sunday's hangover hash.) Beefeater & Stumblina already spoke for the Main Event on Saturday, and I will try to get the big stage down in town that we used a couple of years ago for down downs--depending on where the end of the trail will be. Other points of dis-orgynization:

• We have already secured the entire lower "Beach Camp", as well as couple of tent cabins for our Saturday hares--so we have a top of the hill presence as well.
• Oedipussy is designing the t-shirt (around the "Lucky 13 theme);
• Beer will again be kegs of "Humboldt Hemp Ale", which everyone seems to agree on;
• Food : We intend to have a breakfast catered at the Hash Central beach camp on Saturday morning, so we might just decide to have them also cater the evening meal there as well...something to consider.
• Cost this year goes up to $89.69, in case anyone inquires. We did have some very early regos who sent the $69.69., which is ok--I keep exactly $69 in the Valhash account year-around, as a symbolic gesture, but also to cover such deficits.
• Promotion/advertising/pimping : We have already posted the event on the hash calendar, including the "Upcumming Events" section on top (however, it is still on the second page "more upcumming...".) We will attach the actual rego to the event posting by this next weekend 7/12-13. We will send an email blast out soon to all prior attendees, and encourage each of them to forward to their favorite hashers. Please begin to spread the word out there. Also, we will utilize the Valhash blog(also attached to the hash calendar), which Dinged-Up Dick{DuD} so kindly created and maintained for us over the past several years. (DuD--I need to talk to you to review blogging procedure}

We are thinking of a scouting trip to Two Harbors, Catalina on the weekend of 8/16-17, or 8/23-24, which would put us out in front of the event by 3-4 weeks. Anyone interested in going on that, please give us input on which w/end is best(it is looking like a very full summer schedule).

Catalina Campout XIII is Sept. 12 - 14, 2008!

Ok DuDe, & Clueless Crew:

Now that I, {CreamPuff} have finally made the transition from Unofficial Valhash Waterboy to Gland Master, I am happy to announce that we are TOTALLY FER SURE going to Two Harbors for Valhash Catalina "Lucky 13" Hash, September 2008!

We have booked the entire beach camp this time, and we will reclaim the traditional HASH CENTRAL location {site # 4}. The dates are: SEPTEMBER 12-14, 2008. SAVE THE DATE EARLY!!

I would like to thank everyone who helped with the planning committee this past year--I thought 2007 was really one of the most fun ever. Stumblina & his Beefeater wife laid a nice Saturday trail, which didn't kill everyone to the point where they couldn't even stand on their feet for down-downs. So we rambled on for 2 hours!

While the Valpak was leisurely awaiting the Saturday hash, we created a new competition--kick the waterjug over the Taj Majal. {btw, the Taj Majal award --for largest tent on the island--went to Bent Penis & Penguin this year--livin' large, right smack in the middle of hash central!}. Anyway, CreamPuff, who duffed his first 2 attempts, and was at risk of having to drink a shot of vodka from a reluctant bet with Mojo's Bitch, ended up winning the whole she-bang. However, along the way, Penguin, while trying to show up CP by kicking in her flip-flops, kicked the tee-off stone instead--breaking her BIG TOE! This eventually earned her the Sunday BIG GREEN WEINIE AWARD, which she holds until next year.

Inbred Fred was awarded the prestigious BIG GREEN WEINIE AWARD the first night--after falling asleep in front of the campfire, and almost burning his shoe off his right foot--also melting a borrowed plastic wine glass (CP's) to a crispy crunch!

Then, on Sunday--what has typically been the Hash Special O'Limp-Dicks, Bent Penis volunteered to lay trail--which I tagged along on as his beer-checking weed-smoking waterboy co-hare. I liked that trail as much as any trail that we have hashed on the island for a long time. Then, we had down-downs for another hour--which turned out to be just enough to kill the 2nd keg of Humboldt Hemp (Hash) Ale!! Perfectamundo! The much-too-clever pack convinced Ball Washer to distract me with her bare juggs, and then blind-sided me from the rear (just the way I like it) with the ice-cold keg barrel of H2O (or as Horse's Ass calls it, "Miller Lite"). I suppose that was meant as an initiation, but I took it as the highest form of compliment--a la NFL head coach who just won the Super Bowl. (yes, I think this song is about me...)

Every Valhasher in attendance received their Valhash "Blazin'" 12-pack tshirt{American Apparel orgasmic cotton}, and, of course a Valhash on-on foot magnet (that's right, Circuit--we still haven't run out of them!) The Sat. dinner on the back deck of the Harbor Reef was great, and it looked like everyone enjoyed--thanks for arranging, Jackmie Auff!

Asscrackistan worked her tan crack off working the regos and taking care of all the budget responsibly, and deserves a lot of credit--and much gratitude from me. Thank you Asscracky! (and also your lovely girl Friday, Saralegal)

Dinged Up--there will be more to cum, but that's all i got right now. I've got a whole different write-up just to summarize the results of the annual "Gilligan's Island" down-down competition, and the "Hash Families" down-downs. Some funny-ass shit, man. Also, have to report on activity of the 2007 naming committee, which had the usual brilliant success.

Marina del Rey Ferry Schedule Change

Catalina Ferries called me yesterday to tell me that the Friday 6:00 PM ferry from Marina del Rey to Two Harbors has been moved to 4:00 PM. They also said they have canceled the return boat on Sunday that was to leave at 12:10 PM, and that the only ferry to Marina del Rey on Sunday would be the 4:10 PM boat.

It's time to book your ride on the Catalina fairy. There are boats from both San Pedro and Marina del Rey.

Be sure to take a boat to Two Harbors. If you end up in Avalon, it's about a $100 taxi ride to the campground. (From the Two Harbors pier, it's about a 1/4 mile walk, and the ranger truck will take your gear for you. For free.)

San Pedro boats (www.catalinaexpress.com, 800-481-3470) leave for Two Harbors on Friday at 10:00 AM, 12:30 PM, and 7:20 PM, and on Saturday at 7:00 AM and 12:30 PM. The boat returns Sunday at 2:15.

Marina del Rey boats (www.catalinaferries.com, 310-305-7250) leave Friday at 8:30 AM and 6:00 PM, and Saturday at 9:30 AM. They return Sunday at 12:10 PM and 4:10 PM. [Note on 9/10/07: 12:10 PM boat may be canceled.]

Campout Schedule and Hares

Catalina Campout Xi is exactly one week away! Omigod!!! But you can still register--download a registration form and mail it to Asscrackistan. And send her an email right away to let her know you're coming--and to reserve a t-shirt.

The first beer keg meets the ferry that arrives at 12:15, and is tapped ASAP after it is taken to campsite #4. Campsite 4 is hash central, and the start location of all the runs.

Friday night's run starts at 6:15, or whenever. Hares are Psycho Bitch, Saralegal, and 3.5" Floppy. You KNOW that is going to be fun.

Saturday's run starts at like 2:00 or 3:00. Hares are ZZ Topknot and Hunglikeabug. You KNOW this one is going to be fun. Yeah, like crawling on your belly for 20 miles uphill through shiggy is fun. Fer sure.

DINNER is at 6:00 PM. On the back patio of the restaurant. Yep THE restaurant--there's only one restaurant in Two Harbors. Like they would need two? I'm sure.

Sunday's run is at 10:00 AM, or whenever the hare finds her way to the start. Oh yeah, the hare is Ofeelya. A Bloody Mary check is promised. This will be fun.

All runs start at campsite #4--which is hash central.

Ferry Schedule to Two Harbors

Time to make your reservations to the totally awesome town of Two Harbors for Catalina Campout XI! There are two ferry services to Two Harbors, one from Marina del Rey, and one from San Pedro.

From Marina del Rey take Catalina Ferries, 310-305-7250. They leave MdR on Friday at 9:45 AM and 6:00PM, and on Saturday at 8:30 AM. They return on Sunday at 4:15 PM.

From San Pedro take Catalina Express, 800-481-3470. They leave San Pedro on Friday at 10:15 AM, 12:30 PM, and 7:20 PM, and on Saturday at 7:00 AM and 12:30 PM. They return on Sunday at 2:15 PM. They often add boats, so call them to get the current schedule.

GENERAL INFO: Catalina is an island 26 miles off of Los Angeles. There are two towns there. We will be in Two Harbors, which is a very small place on the west end of the island. It has two restaurants, two bars, one dive shop, one bread-and-breakfast with 13 rooms (booked up by non-hashers long ago), one general store, and one campground. One family--the descendents of Doug Bombard--used to own everything, but in 1998 they sold out to the Santa Catalina Island Company.

Boats are the only way to get there. Ferries leave from San Pedro and Marina del Rey:

Accomodation choices are only the campsite or someone's private boat. Usually some hashers bring their own boats over and sleep aboard.

Cost for the weekend is $69.69 including beer, Saturday dinner, t-shirt and other giveaways, and munchies. You are own your own to get there and for food the other times.

Two Harbors Services does provide transportation for your gear from the ferry to the campsite. You have to walk yourself, but it's only a quarter mile or so.

Buffalo Milk at the Harbor Reef Bar is highly recommended.
